Wrestling with Life: Nina Mingya Powles and Anthony V. Capildeo
In their most recent collections, Nina Mingya Powles and Anthony V. Capildeo wrestle with life in our restless times.
In the Hollow of the Wave by Nina examines orientalism and artmaking in a time of ecological crisis. Influenced by the lives of women artists, and combining textile art, collage and poetry, she reflects on the material of living and the thread of stories.
In Polkadot Wounds, Anthony entices us to enter conversations with the dead and living, glimpsing reflections of encounters. Untimely deaths are counterpointed by breakthroughs of joy, during the pandemic and in queer and far-flung communities.
Together, the two poets discuss how we find meaning and joy in a world in crisis.
